1st Day Blues........

So you prepare and prepare and prepare or you just go with (I normally just go with it).  I didn't know what was going on in the morning!  I stumbled up off the sofa, because I fell asleep there, walked a few paces to the bath room and walked around, even though there was 10 minutes to go till I could scoff all the food I could find!!!  So I........

walked into the kitchen as slow as a tortoise and got a croissant and a glass of water!!!  What was I thinking!!!! I had plans for the first day... I was going to tell you about my breakfast feast!!!  BUT instead I reached for a croissant and a glass of water!

One thing I did notice in the morning, is the stares and THE RACE AGAINST TIME mode I call it!  It's that time where people worry that they haven't ate enough and reach for more!  It makes me laugh to see that race against time mode on peoples faces!  That isn't what Ramadhan is all about!  I am not the most religious person in the world, but I know that its not about the race against time mode, or going around the work place making sad faces to show that your fasting.....it's about thinking of those who don't have food today, like those in Africa and how lucky they would feel if they had a croissant and water just for the morning time!

I am not preaching, because I am not a preacher, but I am saying......lets see what happens.....because I will moan and have tantrums during this 30 day period!

For those who don't know much about fasting, the basics is:

  • I wake up at like 3am ish and have my breakfast.
  • I should pray and read the Koran.
  • After this I either go back to sleep or listen to the radio - deffo KC on Choice FM!
  • I get ready to run the play scheme (yes dealing with children aged from 8-14 whilst fasting!!!!  First moan....oh well!!!)
  • come home and see what food we have (my mother is on holidays)!!!!
  • and write my blog at some point!!

At some point I will mention what the children have been doing but today, its all about me!  So this is a very long Day 1 insight into my Ramadhan 2011 experience!  I really hope you laugh, cry and think with me on this incredible journey we Muslim's go through every year!!!!

Cannot wait for tomorrow!
